Project Description:

PACE was commissioned by The Ministry of Health to provide a conceptual design for Kuwait Cancer Centre in Al Sabah Hospital. Kuwait Cancer Centre program requirements amount to 250,000m2 of hospital space. Some of the program elements include Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Chemotherapy Units, Surgical Units, Intensive Care Units, Physical Therapy Educational Facilities and Auditorium. The Kuwait Cancer Centre caters to over 700 beds for Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Hematology Oncology, Surgical and Intensive Care Units. PACE architects sought to redefine the standard of hospital design and provide the patients, staff and visitors with a new vision for medical care. Users are greeted by a seven star lobby, worthy of any leading hotel chain in the world. The main lobby is dynamic as it contains hovering bridges that connect the various parts of the hospital. Light wells were implemented within the hospital wards to enliven the patient and nursing environments. Special emphasis was given to the landscape surrounding the building to lead people into the building and create lush gardens around the hospital..
