Project Description:
The project is located on the beach of Kuwait's Al-Bide area and developed on a 50,435 m2 site the project consists of low rise building clusters and provides 135, 2 & 3 story dwelling units in addition retail shops, recreation facilities including a swimming pool, gardens, playground, 4 squash courts, a marina and 340 parking spaces. The project reflects the Kuwait life style, local tradition and Islamic architecture. 21 building clusters relate to open spaces are interconnected with walk ways that relate to semi-private gardens. Each cluster's private courtyard serves (4-6) units. Another important consideration in the projects design was safety particularly in relation to young children. All automobile parking is along the sites boundary or on a basement garage, as a result, there is no vehicle movement through any of the landscape and play area. It shows the design vocabulary of a traditional sea side Kuwaiti village with courtyards, palm trees, winding pathways between white washed walls and intimate communal gathering spaces. The project consists of an interwoven complex of villas, duplex and single floor apartments, supplemented by on-site commercial, recreational and parking facilities. The site is a total of 2 plots separated by a narrow pedestrian passage and in total contains approximately 68,000 m2. |
