Client : Al Ahli Bank of Kuwait Location : Kuwait City, Kuwait Associates : Skidmore, Owings and Merill (SOM) Starting Date : 1984 Completion : 1987 Cost : $65 million Project Description: The Al Ahli Bank is situated next to Safat Square in Kuwait City. The 20 floor building includes a mezzanine and two basements. The ground floor provides a column free main hall of the bank with natural light entering from the skylights in the mezzanine level. The main tower of the building has two semi-circular concrete cores oriented east and west to protect from the harsh sun. The buildings finishes include granite, anodized aluminum and tinted glass. The building has become a landmark within the skyline of Kuwait City.
