Project Description:

The project road is part of the planned Trans-Maloti Highway that is intended to connect Maseru to the South African port of Durban. The Likalaneng – Thaba Tseka Road has been packaged into three independently financed lots. The existing project plans to upgrade the last section (27km long) of the Likalaneg to Thaba Tseka road to bitumen standard. The existing road is a gravel-surfaced road. The works consist of upgrading the existing road to a surfaced standard, minor re-alignments, extending, construction of drainage structures and the construction of a new bridge across the Senqunyane River. The road is to be provided with a bituminous double surface treatment, 7m wide, with 1m shoulders. Side drains with a gradient steeper than 5% will be lined to prevent erosion. |
